Legislation Would Push Back ACF Criminal History Record Check Requirement for ACFs to Jan. 1

LeadingAge NY was successful in getting a bill passed in both houses of the legislature that would delay the implementation date for the Adult Care Facility (ACF) Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) requirement to January 2015.  As members may recall, this requirement was enacted in the budget with an immediate effective date.  Unfortunately, this did not allow sufficient time to develop the systems and outreach necessary to implement the requirement.  We were very concerned that providers would be held to a requirement that they were unable to satisfy.  The delayed implementation will give time to build upon the CHRC system that currently exists for other providers such as home care and nursing homes.  The bill will be sent to the Governor next, and we are hopeful that it will be signed into law.  Click here for a complete summary of the bills we worked on throughout the session, and their ultimate status.
