Governor Announces "Strike Force" to Help Process Veterans' Benefits Applications
The State’s first New York Veterans and Military Families Summit was held last week, aimed at improving services for veterans and their families. According to a press release issued by the Governor’s office, Governor Cuomo announced a number of initiatives to support veterans. Of particular interest is the establishment of a “Strike Force” to help expedite the processing of veterans’ disability claims. The State will assist regional Veteran’s Affairs offices in working through the backlog of claims. This has been a critical issue that we have been working on, as veterans and their spouses are experiencing significant delays in the Aid and Attendance application process. We applaud the Governor for taking action on the matter, and are hopeful that this will help ensure that veterans and their spouses are able to access the benefits they deserve, when they need them.
