EQUAL Application Out This Week and DOH Provides CHRC Overview

LeadingAge NY met with the Department of Health (DOH) last week and got important updates on two key issues.  

EQUAL

DOH plans to issue the application for EQUAL funds this week.  There will be a relatively short timeframe to return applications, so start thinking about what sort of project you want to pursue! EQUAL funds are available to adult care facilities that serve Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients.  

Criminal History Record Check 

DOH is preparing to implement the new Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) requirement for ACFs, which will be effective Jan. 1, 2015.  DOH has prepared some preliminary information, which can be accessed here.  More information will be forthcoming in a Dear Administrator letter, and DOH plans to provide trainings for providers in December.  We will keep members apprised of further developments.
