DOH Revises ACF/AL Consumer Resource and PASRR Process

The Department of Health (DOH) has posted two new Dear Administrator Letters (DALs) for adult care facilities (ACFs). The first is to inform operators that they have updated the Adult Care Facility/Assisted Living Residence document "A Resident’s Guide to NYS Department of Health Inspections." DOH asks that you include a copy of this revised guide in your admission packet for new residents. Click here for the DAL and here for the revised guide.

DOH also issued a DAL alerting providers to a change in the Preadmission Screen Resident Review (PASRR) Level II referral process for individuals who are known or suspected of having serious mental illness (SMI) and who are seeking nursing home admission, or who already reside in a nursing home and are identified as having a significant change in condition. Effective Fri., Dec. 1, 2017, Ascend, a MAXIMUS company, will be responsible for completing all Level II evaluations for mental illness. Click here for more information on this change.
