DOH Offers Training to ACFs on Person-Centered Planning
The Department of Health (DOH) has announced virtual person-centered planning training to take place from late February to early March. There are six virtual training modules on topics related to person-centered planning. It is suggested that all six modules be taken in order, but it is not required. DOH encourages providers to register for the sessions that interest them. There is also a Learning Institute beginning for which adult care facilities (ACFs) can register if interested. More information and registration links can be found here. Anyone needing assistance in registering, or requiring accommodations, can email nydohpcptraining@pcgus.com.
Members are reminded that person-centered planning is a requirement of the federal Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Settings Rule. The above training may provide insight into the Department’s expectations as it relates to person-centered planning. DOH intends to apply concepts of the federal rule to all ACFs and has proposed regulation changes that reflect the incorporation of the federal rule into state regulations. LeadingAge NY is holding a webinar on Feb. 15th from 1 to 2:30 p.m. ET for members to review the proposed regulation changes and get your feedback. Click here for more information and registration for the webinar. Comments on the proposed regulation changes are due to the State by Feb. 21st.
