ACFs Are Reminded to Spend EQUAL Funding Within Year of Receipt

Any members who received Enhancing the Quality of Adult Living (EQUAL) Program funding are reminded that they have one year to spend the funds; providers received EQUAL funding in mid-October last year. The Department of Health (DOH) indicated that they may not be able to grant extensions to that deadline. Additionally, the spending must be consistent with the spending plan, and modifications to the plan must be approved by DOH.

By way of background, operators of adult care facilities (ACFs) who provide services to individuals receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), State Supplement Program (SSP) benefits, Safety Net (SN) assistance, and/or Medicaid are eligible for EQUAL Program payments. The purpose of this program is to enhance the quality of care and life experience for those residents. Funding is utilized to improve or expand services and/or enhance the facility’s physical environment.
