DOH Issues Hot Weather Advisory for ACFs

The Department of Health (DOH) has issued its warm weather advisory Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) for adult care facilities (ACFs). The DAL reminds ACFs of their regulatory responsibilities in the hot weather months. It also provides information and resources to prevent and manage heat-related conditions, including information regarding medications that may make a resident more sensitive to heat. Members are reminded that they must post publicly certain information in a conspicuous area in their facility that is accessible to both staff and residents, as outlined in the DAL. Lastly, the DAL also reminds those ACFs with standby power generators to ensure that generators are properly maintained as a measure to maintain operations during outage periods.
