SNALR Voucher Demonstration Program Meets Capacity and Establishes Waitlist
On June 24th, the Department of Health (DOH) sent the below message to Special Needs Assisted Living Residences (SNALRs) participating in the SNALR Voucher Demonstration Program for Persons with Dementia. SNALR members interested in participating in the program should contact DOH at ALTCteam@health.ny.gov. Click here for background on the program.
As of June 23, 2021, the SNALR Voucher Program has instituted a waitlist for new applicants to the program. Since reopening the application process on June 1, the program has allocated all available voucher slots to new participants while staying within the program’s budgetary limits. We still encourage facilities, residents, and families to apply to the program in order to be added to the waitlist.
As a reminder, applications will be reviewed for eligibility upon receipt using existing program protocols. Only eligible applicants will be waitlisted. Eligible applicants will be notified that they are eligible and that they are being placed on a waitlist by email. Applicants not eligible for the program will be notified by email that they do not meet the criteria for the program.
Waitlisted applicants will be removed from the waitlist and added to the program as vouchers become available, so far as the addition fits under budgetary restrictions, in the order that they were waitlisted. Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis. Prior to enrolling a waitlisted applicant, the Department will confirm the applicant’s information remains accurate, and provide information on the start date of voucher payments and the amount of the payment.
