DOH to Hold Webinar on SNALR Voucher Program
LeadingAge NY has been reporting on the developments of the Special Needs Assisted Living Voucher Demonstration Program for residents with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. The Department of Health (DOH) had asked providers interested in participating in the demonstration program to submit attestations by Aug. 1st; however, DOH announced last week that the deadline has been extended to Sept. 7, 2018.
The demonstration program is designed to allow people who are in danger of running out of funds to pay for their care to remain in a Special Needs Assisted Living Residence (SNALR). The voucher program will provide a portion of the monthly fee to help extend the resident’s stay. This contribution is based on calculations of average cost and takes into consideration the resident’s ability to contribute.
DOH is hosting an additional live webinar on Tues., Aug. 7th from 10:30 to 11:30 am to provide further education about the program and address comments and concerns through a question and answer session. To register, use this link.
Members are encouraged to participate in the webinar to better understand how the demonstration will work. If you have any questions, we strongly encourage submitting them to DOH prior to the webinar at ALTCteam@health.ny.gov.
