OMIG to Provide Resources on Compliance Plans
Below is an annoucnement of upcoming webinars regarding Compliance Plans from the Office of Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG). Members that serve the Medicaid population are encourged to review the resources.
According to OMIG:
On Monday, November 2, 2015, the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) will post on its website the first webinar of a nine-part series on New York’s mandatory compliance program obligation. The Compliance Elements webinar series begins Monday with the Introductory Webinar (Webinar # 26), which outlines the eight elements required of mandatory compliance programs, identifies who is required to have a compliance program, and details the areas of a Medicaid provider’s operations to which compliance programs must apply.
The series continues with eight individual webinars (Webinar #27 through Webinar #34), each dedicated to one of the eight elements required of Medicaid providers’ mandatory compliance programs. Each day, from Tuesday, Nov. 3 through Friday, Nov. 6, OMIG will post two webinars in the series. The webinars identify a specific compliance element’s statutory and regulatory requirements, outline what OMIG’s Bureau of Compliance looks for when it assesses a Medicaid provider’s compliance program, and detail compliance related tools and resources available on OMIG’s website to assist providers in meeting the mandatory compliance obligations.
OMIG is in the process of applying for continuing education credits for New York attorneys, auditors, and compliance professionals.
The Compliance Elements webinar series is available on OMIG’s website here.
In December, OMIG will publish Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) raised in reference to the webinar series. Questions submitted to OMIG by Nov. 25, 2015 will be included in the December FAQ. Additional information about the FAQ, including instructions for submitting questions, is included in each webinar in the series.
