Home Care Regulation Changes Affect ALPs

DOH has adopted changes in regulation to Certified Home Health Agencies (CHHAs) and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHCSAs).  Two of these changes impact Assisted Living Program (ALP) LHCSAs, and are described below:

• Plans of care and medical orders for CHHA and LHCSA patients must address the patient’s need for palliative care; and,

• The requirement for a physician to serve on a LHCSA’s quality improvement committee is eliminated.

Click here for more information on the entirety of the changes for CHHAs and LHCSAs.  The changes were effective May 15, 2013, and we anticipate further direction from DOH in a Dear Administrator letter.
