DOH Announces ALP Bed Awards for Transitional Adult Homes

The Department of Health announced the award of 4,348 new Assisted Living Program (ALP) beds to 39 Adult Care Facilities (ACFs) across 15 counties statewide. This award relates to the 4,500 bed conversion opportunity for Transitional Adult Homes (TAHs).  TAHs are adult homes with a certified capacity of eighty beds or more in which twenty-five percent or more of the resident population are persons with serious mental illness. We anticipate that a solicitation for ALP beds still available under the 6,000 bed budget initiative will be available soon.  Current ALP providers, as well as those considering applying for ALP beds in the future, can benefit from LeadingAge NY's ALP Summit in Latham on Oct. 30. We have a terrific slate of presenters: Mark Kissinger, DOH's director of the Division of Long Term Care, Nancy Sever, principal at Hinman Straub, and Scott Jill, DOH's UAS-NY program coordinator.
