ALP Hospice Work Group Holds First Meeting
On March 14th, LeadingAge NY participated in the first of several work group meetings developed out of the legislation we worked to pass that would enable Medicaid-eligible assisted living program (ALP) residents to access hospice care. The work group, which is required in the legislation, is being convened to make recommendations as to coordination and division of services, responsibilities, and reimbursement. LeadingAge NY was selected to serve on the group. Click here for more background.
The first discussion of the work group was used to educate and provide a history of the issue. LeadingAge NY highlighted the work that was done in the past in conjunction with our colleagues. The discussion was very positive, and it was agreed that we would meet again in May, earlier than the initial schedule. LeadingAge NY will report to members the developments of this work group and will seek member feedback to inform our efforts. We look forward to resolving this longstanding access issue.
