DAL Issued on ALP LHCSA CHRC Implementation

ROUTE TO:

Administrator, CFO, Human Resources

ABSTRACT: CHRC requirement for ALPs effective February 1, 2010.

The Department of Health (DOH) has issued a Dear Administrator letter (DAL) on the Health Provider Network (HPN) regarding the new requirement that licensed home care services agency (LHCSA) employees that serve assisted living program (ALP) residents be subject to criminal history record checks (CHRCs).  The DAL explains the requirement and information about trainings for providers.  The requirement is effective February 1, 2010.

NYAHSA has been advocating for a thoughtful implementation of this requirement.  We successfully delayed implementation from original plans, but have expressed ongoing concerns about the timing and availability of trainings.
