'A long time coming': Families finally have face-to-face reunions with loved ones at LI nursing home

March 30th was a day that families of residents at Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center had been looking forward to for over a year: the chance to see their loved ones face to face. Eight groups of families were the first to get a chance to visit inside the facility since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Carolyn Rockwell…Bringing Joy to VRS

Carolyn Rockwell, resident at Valley Residential Services, says she enjoys making people happy and seeing them smile. For St. Patrick’s Day, she purchased a leprechaun costume from Amazon.com but did not tell the staff or other residents that she did this. Carolyn then donned her costume, ditched her walker and used a cane so she could saunter through corridors and bring joy to the faces of staff and residents alike.
