St. Cabrini Nursing Home completes renovation to Therapeutic Dementia Garden thanks to $20,000 Grant from the Field Hall Foundation

On June 30, 2021, St. Cabrini Nursing Home held a blessing ceremony to mark the completed renovation of its therapeutic dementia garden. The renovation was made possible thanks to a $20,000 grant from the Field Hall Foundation.

Construction to start on Daniel Libeskind’s affordable senior housing building in Bed-Stuy

Construction on The Atrium at Sumner, an all-affordable senior housing building in Brooklyn’s Bed-Stuy neighborhood designed by architect Daniel Libeskind and developed by Urban Builders Collaborative, LLC, RiseBoro Community Partnership, Inc. and Selfhelp Realty Group – The Melamid Institute for Affordable Housing, is set to begin in late July.

Jewish Senior Life Introduces Unique Nursing Scholarship Fund

Jewish Senior Life has received funding for a special initiative that will strengthen its nursing workforce. Made possible by a generous donation by Clare and Jerry Rotenberg, the Clare and Jerry Rotenberg Nursing Scholarship Fund will enable qualified Jewish Home employees to attend a New York State Department of Education-approved school to become a licensed practical nurse, all expenses paid.

Wartburg’s Jazz in June Returns

Wartburg celebrated the return of its annual Jazz in June fundraiser on June 17, 2021. This year's event was held on Wartburg’s meadow with nearly 200 guests and 48 sponsors as well as local performers such as Pretty for the People, a jazz ensemble made up of students and professors from SUNY Purchase, and LaChanze, a Mount Vernon native with award-winning performances on Broadway and in films.
