The Osborn Rededicates H.O.P.E. Center for Memory Care

The Osborn recently celebrated the rededication of its Memory Care program, now called “The Dr. Edward C. Pasciuti H.O.P.E. Center for Memory Care” in recognition of the doctor’s ongoing generosity. An educator and counselor in the New Rochelle School District for 40 years, Dr. Pasciuti has been a resident of The Osborn’s Sterling Park Independent Living Community for over 20 years and has spearheaded fundraising for scholarships benefiting children of staff as well as a memorial garden on campus.

In a new statement, Lisa Haglund, president and CEO of Heritage Ministries, offers support for the LeadingAge NY lawsuit that would prevent the State from enforcing minimum nursing home staffing standards for resident care and placing mandates on the amount of revenue spent on direct care.

Nazareth College Students Spark Conversation at Jewish Senior Life

Jewish Senior Life has partnered with Nazareth College for a new internship opportunity. Two Speech-Language Pathology graduate students from the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department are working with participants at Marian’s House, Jewish Senior Life’s daytime respite program for people with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

National Guard Wraps Up At Heritage Green

For several months this year, the National Guard was deployed at The Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing to help relieve stress on the workers by helping out in any way possible. The men and women in uniform first arrived to help with general purpose, helping out in any way that did not involve patient care, which eventually evolved into medically trained professionals coming in to help out. May 27th was their last day serving at The Green, and as workers say, the Guard members have improved the nursing home for everyone.

Brookmeade Community Honors Graduates

Brookmeade Community, along with local elected officials, recently honored three employees who graduated in their respective fields. Graduates included Naim Fanek, who completed his nursing home administrator in training internship and obtained his administrator license through the New York State Department of Health; Chelsea Moore, who graduated with her associate degree from Columbia-Greene Community College and is now a registered nurse; and Katherine Seckler, who completed her master’s degree in social work from Sacred Heart University.
