Reminder: Next Public Affairs Council Meeting Scheduled for Thurs., June 6th!
(June 3, 2024) Members are reminded that LeadingAge NY will be hosting our June Public Affairs Council meeting on Thurs., June 6th at 3 p.m. During this month’s meeting, LeadingAge NY will provide an update on the final week of the 2024 Legislative Session. We will review bills that LeadingAge NY is actively working on and will remind members of the advocacy resources that are available to help advance positive policies and oppose problematic proposals. As we look ahead to the summer months, we will discuss the upcoming election cycle and various strategies that LeadingAge NY and members can implement to continue to build upon our advocacy work and expand awareness of the needs of older adults. We also will further discuss and refine some of the messages that we plan to publicize while legislators are home, running for re-election in their districts.
The Public Affairs Council serves as a venue for Public Relations (PR) and Government Affairs professionals from LeadingAge NY member organizations to join together and coordinate advocacy and press efforts. It offers a prime opportunity for members to weigh in on our materials and strategies, and we use your feedback to refine and capitalize on our work together. While areas of discussion focus on advocacy and press, any staff member from any LeadingAge NY member organization who is interested in advocacy is welcome to join this council.
