Reminder: Join Us for Public Affairs Council Meeting This Thurs., March 13th!
(March 10, 2025) Members are reminded that LeadingAge NY will be hosting our March Public Affairs Council meeting this Thurs., March 13th at 3 p.m. During this month’s meeting, the Council will discuss how to best advocate during these final weeks of state budget negotiations to fight for our priorities to be included in the final state budget agreement. We will review the latest budget advocacy events, resources, and social media efforts that we encourage members to participate in. We also will cover the highlights of what is included in the one-house budget proposals and our message to policymakers as they work toward a final budget.
The goal of this meeting will be to ensure that we are doing everything we can to work together to urge the State to prioritize the needs of older adults and individuals living with complex medical conditions in this year's budget! The state budget is expected to be made final by April 1, 2025.
The Public Affairs Council serves as a venue for Public Relations (PR) and Government Affairs professionals from LeadingAge NY member organizations to join together and coordinate advocacy and press efforts. It offers a prime opportunity for members to weigh in on our materials and strategies, and we use your feedback to refine and capitalize on our work together. While discussions primarily focus on advocacy and press, any staff member from any LeadingAge NY member organization who is interested in advocacy is welcome to join this council.
If you have not already done so, you can sign up for the Public Affairs Council here!
All Public Affairs Council meetings are held over Zoom. Please reach out to Sarah Daly at sdaly@leadingageny.org with any questions about the Council or PR/advocacy resources.
