Participate in 2024 Elections – Contribute to LeadingAge NY PAC!

(June 25, 2024) While the 2024 Legislative Session has officially concluded, NYS political activity is about to intensify with today's state primary elections and the general election set for Nov. 5th. Not only is 2024 a presidential election year, but there are also critical congressional and state elections taking place.

Election season is a critical time to ensure that your organization and advocates are connecting with candidates running for a seat in the NYS Legislature. An easy way to ensure that long-term care providers and the needs of older adults are being considered by candidates is to contribute to LeadingAge NY's Political Action Committee (PAC)!

By contributing to the LeadingAge NY PAC, you play a direct role in shaping policies that impact the quality of care and services available to older adults and individuals with disabilities. The PAC provides an opportunity for leaders, staff, board members, and volunteers to support our advocacy and the development of critical legislative relationships. To help bolster our Albany advocacy efforts, we invite you to make personal donations to our PAC!

Donations can be made via this link. Please review the above-linked flyer for additional information and/or share the flyer with your organization’s board members to help us supercharge our PAC! Your donations will enable us to continue our advocacy work and make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults across NYS. Please note: Federal law strictly prohibits not-for-profit entities from involvement in political campaigns. Donations must be made from individuals’ personal accounts.

To learn more about what LeadingAge NY and the LeadingAge NY PAC do for our members, check out our 2023 Accomplishments! In addition, LeadingAge NY recently issued our 2024 Legislative Bill Summary, marking the end of this year's state legislative activity and recounting several advocacy victories.

Finally, in addition to contributing to the LeadingAge NY PAC, members may participate in state and federal elections by inviting political candidates (from both parties) to your organization to visit with consumers and staff members. And, most importantly, members should take some time to contact candidates to express your organization's mission, services, and challenges. Members may learn more about your upcoming 2024 elections via Vote411.org or Ballotpedia. Thank you for your unwavering support, care, and commitment to the well-being of older adults in your communities. Your contributions ensure that the voices of aging New Yorkers and long-term care providers are heard by legislators loud and clear!
