New Administration Takes Shape with HHS, HUD, and Other Nominations

(Nov. 26, 2024) In recent days, President-elect Donald Trump has nominated the following individuals to key leadership positions impacting health, housing, and aging services:

  • Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
  • Labor Secretary: Lori Chavez-DeRemer
  • Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary: Scott Turner
  • Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner: Marty Makary
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director: David Weldon
  • Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator: Dr. Mehmet Oz
  • Surgeon General: Dr. Janette Nesheiwat
  • Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE): Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy

As a general rule, these nominations are subject to U.S. Senate confirmation.
