Karen Lipson Appointed to Reimagining LTC Task Force
LeadingAge NY is proud to announce that Karen Lipson, our executive vice president, has been appointed to the State’s Reimagining Long Term Care Task Force. As the only association that represents providers throughout the long term care and aging services continuum, LeadingAge NY is uniquely suited to help the State improve how long term care services and supports are delivered and paid for in the state. With over 25 years of experience in the field, Karen has deep expertise in long term care services and supports and is eager to bring LeadingAge NY members’ experience to the conversation.
The Reimagining Long Term Care Task Force was established in law. According to the statute, it is intended to “study the state of long-term care services, options and challenges for older New Yorkers and reimagine how the state can better meet the existing and projected needs of such New Yorkers in ways that prioritize safety and affordability, and enhance the quality of life for those in need of such care.” The task force is directed to consider the full continuum of care, including, but not limited to, community-based services, consumer-directed services, culturally and linguistically relevant health care, independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing facility care. It will study the limitations currently hampering quality care and consider potential models for improvement. In addition, the task force will examine the challenges and issues generated by the COVID-19 pandemic and provide recommendations on how residents and clients can be better cared for and protected in any future emergency.
LeadingAge NY is eager to begin this dialogue and will provide updates to members when the Task Force first convenes.
