Feds Fail to Approve State's Medicaid Waiver Application

According to a press release issued by the governor's office yesterday, the federal government failed to approve the state's Medicaid waiver application in a letter issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The state submitted the application to the federal government 18 months ago for $10 billion. The money, if approved, would go towards rehabilitating downstate hospitals and health care delivery system and expanding Medicaid initiatives set forth by the state's Medicaid Redesign Team. The response from the federal government comes after Gov. Cuomo's call to action during his Executive Budget presentation. LeadingAge New York will be monitoring the progress of the Medicaid waiver and reporting any and all outcomes to members.
