On Dec. 30^th, Governor Hochul acted upon three bills that would further restrict and penalize providers for the use of mandatory nurse overtime. Ultimately, two of the bills were vetoed and one bill was signed based on an agreement with the Legislature to amend the bill.

While the mandatory nurse overtime legislation is still awaiting delivery to the Governor’s desk for action, LeadingAge NY members are strongly encouraged to write to the Governor’s office TODAY in opposition. The three bills could be delivered any day now, and the Governor may choose to act on them swiftly.
