As Governor Cuomo trumpets a New Year’s increase in the state’s minimum wage, nearly 12,000 low-income New Yorkers relying on assisted living and adult care facility (ACF) services continue to face risk of their safety or unnecessary placement into a nursing home due to inadequate reimbursement, according to LeadingAge New York and the Empire State Association of Assisted Living (ESAAL).

Speech will begin at 1 pm and be streamed live on the Governor’s website.

Successful advocacy addressed key issues for members, but overall fiscal concerns remain.

LeadingAge NY is extremely disappointed by these outcomes and will continue to work in the upcoming budget process and legislative session to find solutions for members.

Speech will coincide with the first day of the 2018 Legislative Session.

Advocacy Days will be held on Tues., Feb. 6, 2018 and Tues., March 6, 2018 on the Empire State Plaza in Albany.

Testimony proposes legislative/regulatory changes and financial investments that would enable New York’s growing senior population to access services in the most integrated settings appropriate to their needs, thereby providing them with better care at a lower cost and improving their overall health.

Surveys, OIG audit, arbitration, ombudsman program, and staffing ratios among topics discussed.
