With the departure of Ami Schnauber, LeadingAge NY President and CEO Jim Clyne has promoted two staff members to take on new responsibilities.

Last week, LeadingAge NY's Karen Lipson offered testimony at a Public Health and Health Planning Council meeting that was largely focused on DOH's proposed regulations for the “70/40” direct care minimum spending measure and the minimum nurse staffing hours measure for nursing homes.

Congress is negotiating a $3.5 trillion infrastructure investment package. Members must take action NOW to ensure that the Build Back Better Act includes key funding for our aging services infrastructure.

In a letter to PHHPC, LeadingAge NY offers comments on two proposed regulations: (i) the addition of section 415.34, requiring nursing homes to spend a specified percentage of their operating revenue on resident care; and (ii) the amendment to sections 415.2 and 415.3 imposing minimum nursing hours per day requirements in nursing homes.

A New York City native, Dr. Bassett served as the Commissioner of the city’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene from 2014 to 2018.

After more than 14 years at LeadingAge NY, Ami Schnauber is saying farewell on Oct. 1^st. Ami has accepted a position with HealthPRO Heritage, a national health care solutions partner that provides therapy, wellness, and consulting services for organizations at every level of the care continuum.

Dr. Howard Zucker has served as Health Commissioner since 2013 and will continue in the role until a replacement is announced.
