2023 LeadingAge National Lobby Day Recap
Last week, LeadingAge National held its in-person coordinated Lobby Day effort in Washington, DC. As part of the national effort, LeadingAge NY and a group of NY member providers and advocates met with 11 U.S. Senate and House offices in just one afternoon. Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and Representatives Lawler, Langworthy, Higgins, and Morelle were among the offices our team of advocates was able to meet with.
Key topics discussed in meetings were workforce, underfunding, staffing mandates, the certified nursing assistant (CNA) training lockout, and the elimination of three-day hospital stay requirements. Great discussions were had and connections made during Lobby Day that will help inform and support LeadingAge National’s year-round advocacy on our behalf.
If you were not able to attend the LeadingAge National Leadership Summit and Lobby Day this year, we hope you will consider joining us next year! In addition, you can easily take action on several of the issues mentioned above via LeadingAge National's advocacy action alert website. Any questions regarding how to get more involved in federal or state advocacy can be directed to Sarah Daly at sdaly@leadingageny.org.
Thank you again to the LeadingAge NY members who committed their afternoon to advocating with us on Capitol Hill! Your work and stories are inspiring and will help drive the change and funding actions we hope to see in Washington, DC.
