2022 Passed Legislation Round-Up
As we approach the end of every calendar year, there is always a flurry of activity aimed at wrapping up loose ends from the previous legislative session and preparing for the upcoming State budget. For example, last week the Legislature published the 2023 Legislative Session Calendar, and Governor Hochul announced that her State of the State address would be delivered from the Assembly Chamber on Tues., Jan. 10th at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, there are still hundreds of bills – 265, as of Mon., Dec. 12th – that were passed by both houses of the Legislature in 2022 and are awaiting delivery to the Governor for action.
There were approximately 36 priority-level bills passed this year that LeadingAge NY has been tracking closely. Of these 36 bills, 14 are still awaiting delivery to the Governor. This year, any bill sent to the Governor after Tues., Dec. 20th must be signed within 30 days, or a pocket veto will be triggered.
Below, members may find a brief list of some of the most notable bills passed in 2022 and where they currently stand. In addition to this list, members may also consider reviewing our 2022 Legislative Bill Summary which was issued at the close of session and reviews over 100 priority-level bills LeadingAge NY has advocated on.
