Westchester to Welcome Next MPA Town Hall
The NYS Department of Health (DOH) and Office for the Aging (SOFA) have announced the next Master Plan for Aging (MPA) Town Hall, scheduled for Thurs., March 7th from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
Registration is required to attend the Town Hall in person or access the virtual livestream.
Recent Town Hall events have been hosted on Long Island, across NYC, and in regional hubs across the state, including Utica, Binghamton, and Buffalo. A full list of MPA community engagement events, including available transcripts and recordings, is available on the State’s website.
These events are designed for New Yorkers to learn more about the status of the MPA and to provide their feedback on how the final plan would best serve the older adults in their communities.
DOH and SOFA are also soliciting feedback via a statewide public survey to help shape the strategies and priorities of the MPA. Members are encouraged to complete the survey prior to the newly extended Feb. 29th deadline and to share widely among staff, residents and families, and community networks.
Additionally, LeadingAge NY staff and members are continuing their participation in the MPA’s issue-focused workgroups to develop stakeholder recommendations reflective of member priorities. A final report of stakeholder recommendations – which will be informed by feedback received during the MPA community engagement events and via the survey – is expected in July 2024. A final MPA is due to be issued by the Governor in early 2025. Members are welcome to contact LeadingAge NY staff directly to provide input and recommendations for potential inclusion in the MPA.
