Updates for CHHAs/LTHHCPs on OASIS-C1/ICD-10

The Department of Health (DOH) posted a Dear Administrator Letter (DAL), DHCBS 15-07, Implementation of OASIS-C1/ICD-10 and OASIS resources, to the Health Commerce System (HCS).  Included in the DAL were notices to Certified Home Health Agencies (CHHAs) and Long Term Home Health Care Programs (LTHHCPs) of upcoming changes to the Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) data set and the availability of OASIS resources and training.

The OASIS-C1/ICD-10 item set is replacing the current version (OASIS-C 1/ICD-9) effective October 1, 2015. As we have previously reported the OASIS-C1/ICD-10 item set is required for all assessments completed on or after Oct. 1, 2015.

Included in the DAL is the link to CMS with the complete set of OASIS-C1/ICD-10 data items, as well as the subsets of the OASIS-C1/ICD-10 that are collected at each time point (Start of Care, Recertification, Discharge, etc.). The DAL reviews the purpose of the OASIS and the importance of accuracy in creating quality reports and public reporting on the CMS Home Health Compare website.
