(April 15, 2025) Providers are invited to register now for the Adult Day Health Care Council's (ADHCC) 2025 Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) Virtual Spring Training – Part 1, to be held next week on April 23rd and 24th. The training will focus on aspects of ADHC program operations.

New directors and staff, as well as longstanding ADHC program leaders and staff members, will learn important aspects of policy development and problem solving to take back to your program. The program will be recorded and in a presentation format with opportunity for questions and discussion. A question-and-answer period will be offered, so bring your questions, concerns, and ideas to this training. National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) credits will be offered for this training.

Stay tuned for Parts 2 and 3, which will help ADHC staff gain a better understanding of registrants with intellectual disabilities and mental health diagnoses and how to better serve them.

Policies, Procedures … and Procrastination

Writing policies and procedures can be a challenge, even for the experienced person. In order for any organization to function properly, policies and procedures need to be accurate, brief, and easy to comprehend. When written correctly, policies and procedures can save time, eliminate frustration, increase efficiency, and meet regulatory requirements. This session will incorporate an overall understanding of the process involved to create, review, and critique policies and procedures.

Thurs., April 24th, 1-2:30 p.m.

The Why Behind the What: Looking at Behavioral Root Cause Analysis

This session will provide an in-depth understanding of the process for identifying causative factors and developing appropriate interventions to predict/reduce/manage/prevent the occurrence/reoccurrence of accidents, problematic behaviors, or issues of concern. This session will incorporate the process involved in performing a root cause analysis and thorough investigation, with interdisciplinary participation, and include a focus on implementing relevant and appropriate documentation through progress notes, care plans, and accident/incident reports.

Gail Weinstein, LeadingAge NY ProCare consultant, licensed nursing home administrator, and certified therapeutic recreation specialist, will present the sessions.
