Fall Resources for Skilled Nursing, Adult Care and Assisted Living Providers
AHRQ's online Toolkit, Preventing Falls in Hospitals: A Toolkit for Improving Quality of Care: The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has developed an online toolkit that focuses on overcoming the challenges associated with developing, implementing, and sustaining a fall prevention program. While this toolkit is designed for hospitals, the information provided on universal fall precautions, evaluating potential falls prevention practices and the process for implementing and monitoring a falls prevention program are useful for congregate settings serving older adults with higher needs.
The Morse Fall Scale Training Module from Fall TIPS (Tailoring Interventions for Patient Safety): A training module on use of the Morse Falls Assessment, one of the tools made available through the Fall TIPS (Tailoring Interventions for Patient Safety) study funded by Robert Wood Johnson Interdisciplinary Nursing Quality Research Initiative. Additional Falls TIPS tools are accessible here on the website of Brigham Women's Hospital's Center for Nursing Excellence.
