MRT Special Needs ALP Grant: Tips for a Successful Application Recording Available

LeadingAge NY held a free, members-only audio conference regarding the funding opportunity recently announced for Assisted Living Programs (ALPs) and entities awarded ALP beds on Mon., June 8. A recording of the program, MRT Special Needs ALP Funding Grant: Tips for a Successful Application, is now available here, along with handouts. Members will need their log-in information to access the materials.

The speakers are LeadingAge NY's very own Linda Spokane, vice president for research and analytics, and Diane Darbyshire, senior policy analyst.

During the call, a brief overview of the opportunity was provided, along with the priorities of the Medicaid Redesign Team (MRT) Affordable Housing efforts (from which this funding stems), as well as information about the Grants Gateway, the platform upon which applications must be submitted.

Background

This funding opportunity is designed to support training and services and/or capital investments that would help the ALP better serve special needs populations and save Medicaid dollars. According to the RFA, “…the special needs population shall consist of Medicaid individuals who have one or more co-morbid and medically complex chronic conditions that are substantially disabling or life-threatening, have a high risk of hospitalization or other significant adverse health outcomes and require specialized delivery systems across domains of care.” Click here for more information regarding this funding opportunity, and here for the Request for Applications (RFA). Applications must be submitted by Wed., July 8, 2015.

We encourage you to review the RFA in its entirety beforehand. There is detailed information available regarding scoring, payments, the Grants Gateway, conditions of the contract and more.
