CCRC Continuing Care at Home Legislation Approved
Governor Cuomo signed into law A.4611-B (Schimminger)-S.2118-B (Ranzenhofer), which would allow Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) to provide Continuing Care at Home contracts to seniors who live in their own homes, but would like to receive services provided by a CCRC. Continuing Care at Home contracts would allow a greater portion of the aging population to receive CCRC services, thereby holding down State Medicaid costs and allowing for a cost effective alternative to campus living. Continuing Care at Home contracts would also give seniors the choice of remaining in their homes while enjoying all of the benefits of the medical, social and recreational services provided by CCRCs. LeadingAge NY has worked with the Governor's office, the Department of Health and the association's counsel, Hinman Straub, over the past few months to perfect the language. The bill was approved by the Governor on Mon., Dec. 29, and the new law will take effect on April 1, 2015. Click here to read the language.
